Torched Sunset

I went to Bali this year for my cousin's wedding. Fortunately, the sea air made it cooler than Hong Kong and way less humid. Because Bali is to Australia as Mexico is to Canada, the resort and tourism industry has really taken off in Bali. The downside to all of that is the pollution that has cropped up. As such, your traditional sunset shots aren't quite as pretty as the ones here in good ol' Vancouver (English Bay particularly).

As you can see in this shot, the line of smog makes the sunset end prematurely, so you don't get that cool orange ray across the water that comes when the sun dips below the horizon. I decided to take a look around at what other things may make for an interesting shot around the sunset. I saw a couple of these oil torches set up as decor to the entrance to the beach from the resort. Admittedly, it would have been nicer with a full sunset in the background, but given that the subject is the torch itself, I think the picture turned out well.
